This patch delayed the updates of the dominator tree to the very end of the pass instead of doing that in small increments after each basic block.
This improves the runtime of the pass in particular in pathological cases because now the updater sees the full extend of the updates and can decide whether it is faster to apply the changes incrementally or just recompute the full tree from scratch.
Put differently, thanks to this patch, we can take advantage of the improvements that Chijun Sima <[email protected]> made in the dominator tree updater a while ago with commit 32fd196cbf4d: "Teach the DominatorTree fallback to recalculation when applying updates to speedup JT (PR37929)".
This change is NFC but can improve the runtime of the compiler dramatically in some pathological cases (where the pass was pushing a lot (several thousands) of small updates (less than 6)).
For instance on the motivating example we went from 300+ sec to less than a second.

Previously we would remove all references from an instruction, which would make it impossible to use that instruction to salvage a later instruction in the instruction stream, because its operands were already removed.

This adjusts mayHaveSideEffect() to return true for !willReturn() instructions. Just like other side-effects, non-willreturn calls (aka "divergence") cannot be removed and cannot be reordered relative to other side effects. This fixes a number of bugs where non-willreturn calls are either incorrectly dropped or moved. In particular, it also fixes the last open problem in https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50511.
I performed a cursory review of all current mayHaveSideEffect() uses, which convinced me that these are indeed the desired default semantics. Places that do not want to consider non-willreturn as a sideeffect generally do not want mayHaveSideEffect() semantics at all. I identified two such cases, which are addressed by D106591 and D106742. Finally, there is a use in SCEV for which we don't really have an appropriate API right now -- what it wants is basically "would this be considered forward progress". I've just spelled out the previous semantics there.

This patch updates the various IR passes to correctly handle dbg.values with a DIArgList location. This patch does not actually allow DIArgLists to be produced by salvageDebugInfo, and it does not affect any pass after codegen-prepare. Other than that, it should cover every IR pass.
Most of the changes simply extend code that operated on a single debug value to operate on the list of debug values in the style of any_of, all_of, for_each, etc. Instances of setOperand(0, ...) have been replaced with with replaceVariableLocationOp, which takes the value that is being replaced as an additional argument. In places where this value isn't readily available, we have to track the old value through to the point where it gets replaced.

This patch updates DbgVariableIntrinsics to support use of a DIArgList for the location operand, resulting in a significant change to its interface. This patch does not update all IR passes to support multiple location operands in a dbg.value; the only change is to update the DbgVariableIntrinsic interface and its uses. All code outside of the intrinsic classes assumes that an intrinsic will always have exactly one location operand; they will still support DIArgLists, but only if they contain exactly one Value.
Among other changes, the setOperand and setArgOperand functions in DbgVariableIntrinsic have been made private. This is to prevent code from setting the operands of these intrinsics directly, which could easily result in incorrect/invalid operands being set. This does not prevent these functions from being called on a debug intrinsic at all, as they can still be called on any CallInst pointer; it is assumed that any code directly setting the operands on a generic call instruction is doing so safely. The intention for making these functions private is to prevent DIArgLists from being overwritten by code that's naively trying to replace one of the Values it points to, and also to fail fast if a DbgVariableIntrinsic is updated to use a DIArgList without a valid corresponding DIExpression.

Avoid having to instantiate and compile a subset of the dominator tree logic separately for each node type. More importantly, this allows generic algorithms to be built on top of dominator trees without writing them as templates -- such algorithms can now use opaque CfgBlockRef and CfgInterface instead.
A type-erased implementation of dominator trees could be written in terms of CfgInterface as well, but doing so would change the current trade-off: it would slightly reduce code size at the cost of a slight runtime overhead.
This patch does not change the trade-off, as it only does type-erasure where basic blocks can be treated in a fully opaque way, i.e. it only moves methods that don't require iteration over CFG successors and predecessors.
v5: - rename generic_{begin,end,children} back without the generic_ prefix and refer explictly to base class methods in NewGVN, which wants to mutate the order of dominator tree node children directly
v6: - style change: iDom -> idom; it's arguable whether this is really invalid, since it is actually standard camelCase, but clang-tidy complains about it so... *shrug* - rename {to,from}Generic -> {wrap,unwrap}Ref

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.
Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository.

Several files saw more extensive updates where this would cascade to requiring API updates within the file to use `Instruction` instead of `TerminatorInst`. All of these were trivial in nature (pervasively using `Instruction` instead just worked).

In order to make DbgInfoIntrinsic as a base class for 'debug info', I create a class for 'variable debug info', DbgVariableIntrinsic.
DbgDeclareInst, DbgAddrIntrinsic, and DbgValueInst will be derived from it.

It converts passes (e.g. adce/jump-threading) and various functions which currently accept DDT in local.cpp and BasicBlockUtils.cpp to use the new DomTreeUpdater class. These converted functions in utils can accept DomTreeUpdater with either UpdateStrategy and can deal with both DT and PDT held by the DomTreeUpdater.

The renaming was done as follows: - git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g' - git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM - Manual change to APInt - Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it.
In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased to the LLVM_DEBUG() one.
