A lot of comments in LLDB are surrounded by an ASCII line to delimit the begging and end of the comment.
Its use is not really consistent across the code base, sometimes the lines are longer, sometimes they are shorter and sometimes they are omitted. Furthermore, it looks kind of weird with the 80 column limit, where the comment actually extends past the line, but not by much. Furthermore, when /// is used for Doxygen comments, it looks particularly odd. And when // is used, it incorrectly gives the impression that it's actually a Doxygen comment.
I assume these lines were added to improve distinguishing between comments and code. However, given that todays editors and IDEs do a great job at highlighting comments, I think it's worth to drop this for the sake of consistency. The alternative is fixing all the inconsistencies, which would create a lot more churn.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.
Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository.

Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge effort. Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit, performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the merge for this particular commit. The commands used to accomplish this reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of the repository):
find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} + find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ;
The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4.
Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of a meaningful prior commit. There are alternatives available that will attempt to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit. YMMV.

We may have nothing more than a pc value for this type of stack frame -- hopefully we'll have a pc and a stop_id so we can track module loads and unloads over time and symbolicate the pc at the correct point in time.
Also add a flag to indicate if the CFA for the frame is available (a bit different from a CFA of LLDB_INVALID_ADDRESS) and also an overall setting to indicate whether this is a history stack frame or not. A history stack frame may not have a CFA, it may not have a register context, it may not have variables, it may not have a frame pointer or a stack pointer.

Instead I'll try sticking with the single StackFrame class -- there's too much code duplication to make a more complicated class hierarchy sensible I think.

Add a new base class, Frame. It is a pure virtual function which defines a protocol that all subclasses will implement. StackFrame is currently the only subclass and the methods that Frame vends are nearly identical to StackFrame's old methods.
Update all callers to use Frame*/Frame& instead of pointers to StackFrames.
This is almost entirely a mechanical change that touches a lot of the code base so I'm committing it alone. No new functionality is added with this patch, no new subclasses of Frame exist yet.
I'll probably need to tweak some of the separation, possibly moving some of StackFrame's methods up in to Frame, but this is a good starting point.

This checking is part one of trying to add some threading safety to our internals. The first part of this is to use a new class:
lldb_private::ExecutionContextRef
This class holds onto weak pointers to the target, process, thread and frame and it also contains the thread ID and frame Stack ID in case the thread and frame objects go away and come back as new objects that represent the same logical thread/frame.
ExecutionContextRef objcets have accessors to access shared pointers for the target, process, thread and frame which might return NULL if the backing object is no longer available. This allows for references to persistent program state without needing to hold a shared pointer to each object and potentially keeping that object around for longer than it needs to be.
You can also "Lock" and ExecutionContextRef (which contains weak pointers) object into an ExecutionContext (which contains strong, or shared pointers) with code like

I didn't remove the SBValue API's that take this now useless frame, but I added ones that don't require the frame, and marked the SBFrame taking ones as deprecated.

Added a new bool parameter to many of the DumpStopContext() methods that might dump file paths that allows the dumping of full paths or just the basenames. Switched the stack frame dumping code to use just the basenames for the files instead of the full path.
Modified the StackID class to no rely on needing the start PC for the current function/symbol since we can use the SymbolContextScope to uniquely identify that, unless there is no symbol context scope. In that case we can rely upon the current PC value. This saves the StackID from having to calculate the start PC when the StackFrame::GetStackID() accessor is called.
Also improved the StackID less than operator to correctly handle inlined stack frames in the same stack.

Clarified the intent of the SymbolContextScope class in the header documentation. Symbol now inherits from the symbol context scope so that the StackID can use a "SymbolContextScope *" instead of a blockID (which could have been the same as some other blockID from another symbol file).
Modified the stacks that are created on subsequent stops to reuse the previous stack frame objects which will allow for some internal optimization using pointer comparisons during stepping.

Also we now store the stack frames for the current and previous stops in the thread in std::auto_ptr objects. When we create a thread stack frame list we pass the previous frame into it so it can re-use the frames and maintain will allow for variable changes to be detected. I will implement the stack frame reuse next.

Added support for inlined stack frames being represented as real stack frames which is now on by default. Frames are gotten from the unwinder as concrete frames, then if inline frames are to be shown, extra information to track and reconstruct these frames is cached with each Thread and exanded as needed.
I added an inline height as part of the lldb_private::StackID class, the class that helps us uniquely identify stack frames. This allows for two frames to shared the same call frame address, yet differ only in inline height.
Fixed setting breakpoint by address to not require addresses to resolve.
A quick example:
% cat main.cpp
% ./build/Debug/lldb test/stl/a.out Current executable set to 'test/stl/a.out' (x86_64).
