Currently, if you bind the socket to something like: servaddr.sin6_family = AF_INET6; servaddr.sin6_port = htons(0); servaddr.sin6_scope_id = 0; inet_pton(AF_INET6, "::1", &servaddr.sin6_addr);
And then request a connect to: connaddr.sin6_family = AF_INET6; connaddr.sin6_port = htons(20000); connaddr.sin6_scope_id = if_nametoindex("lo"); inet_pton(AF_INET6, "fe88::1", &connaddr.sin6_addr);
What the stack does is: - bind the socket - create a new asoc - to handle the connect - copy the addresses that can be used for the given scope - try to connect
But the copy returns 0 addresses, and the effect is that it ends up trying to connect as if the socket wasn't bound, which is not the desired behavior. This unexpected behavior also allows KASLR leaks through SCTP diag interface.
The fix here then is, if when trying to copy the addresses that can be used for the scope used in connect() it returns 0 addresses, bail out. This is what TCP does with a similar reproducer.

That is, the parameter itself was being validated by sctp_walk_params, but it doesn't check for types and their specific sizes and it could be a 0-length one, causing from_addr_param to potentially work over the next parameter or even uninitialized memory.
The fix here is to, in all calls to from_addr_param, check if enough space is there for the wanted IP address type.

This is a part of sk_reuseport support for sctp. It defines a helper sctp_bind_addrs_check() to check if the bind_addrs in two socks are matched. It will add sock_reuseport if they are completely matched, and return err if they are partly matched, and alloc sock_reuseport if all socks are not matched at all.
It will work until sk_reuseport support is added in sctp_get_port_local() in the next patch.
v1->v2: - use 'laddr->valid && laddr2->valid' check instead as Marcelo pointed in sctp_bind_addrs_check().

sctp.local_addr_list is a global address list that is supposed to include all the local addresses. sctp updates this list according

sctp.local_addr_list is a global address list that is supposed to include all the local addresses. sctp updates this list according to NETDEV_UP/ NETDEV_DOWN notifications.
However, if multiple NICs have the same address, the global list would have duplicate addresses. Even if for one NIC, promote secondaries in __inet_del_ifa can also lead to accumulating duplicate addresses.
When sctp binds address 'ANY' and creates a connection, it copies all the addresses from global list into asoc's bind addr list, which makes sctp pack the duplicate addresses into INIT/INIT_ACK packets.
This patch is to filter the duplicate addresses when copying the addrs from global list in sctp_copy_local_addr_list and unpacking addr_param from cookie in sctp_raw_to_bind_addrs to asoc's bind addr list.
Note that we can't filter the duplicate addrs when global address list gets updated, As NETDEV_DOWN event may remove an addr that still exists in another NIC.

Dmitry reported that sctp_add_bind_addr may read more bytes than expected in case the parameter is a IPv4 addr supplied by the user through calls such as sctp_bindx_add(), because it always copies sizeof(union sctp_addr) while the buffer may be just a struct sockaddr_in, which is smaller.
This patch then fixes it by limiting the memcpy to the min between the union size and a (new parameter) provided addr size. Where possible this parameter still is the size of that union, except for reading from user-provided buffers, which then it accounts for protocol type.

Commit c182f90bc1f22ce5039b8722e45621d5f96862c2 ("SCTP: fix race between sctp_bind_addr_free() and sctp_bind_addr_conflict()") and commit 1231f0baa547a541a7481119323b7f964dda4788 ("net,rcu: convert call_rcu(sctp_local_addr_free) to kfree_rcu()"), happening in different trees, introduced a build failure.
Simply make the SCTP race fix use kfree_rcu() too.

During the sctp_close() call, we do not use rcu primitives to destroy the address list attached to the endpoint. At the same time, we do the removal of addresses from this list before attempting to remove the socket from the port hash
As a result, it is possible for another process to find the socket in the port hash that is in the process of being closed. It then proceeds to traverse the address list to find the conflict, only to have that address list suddenly disappear without rcu() critical section.
Fix issue by closing address list removal inside RCU critical section.
Race can result in a kernel crash with general protection fault or kernel NULL pointer dereference:

percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).

8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch.
