Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver struct
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and is really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a comment to that effect:
/* * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove(). * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped. */
This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with '.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs to make things line up.
I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used spaces to line things up.
Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this is the end result. No more unnecessary conversion noise.

Simplify error handling (less gotos) over locks with guard().
The driver used file-scope variable 'irq_state' for storing IRQ state with spin_lock_irqsave, so move it into respective local scopes. This should be equivalent, but more readable (less global variables).

memory: emif: Use of_property_read_bool()
Use of_property_read_bool() to read boolean properties rather than of_find_property(). This is part of a larger effort to remove callers of of_find_property() and similar functions. of_find_property() leaks the DT struct property and data pointers which is a problem for dynamically allocated nodes which may be freed.

memory: emif: Drop usage of platform_driver_probe()
There are considerations to drop platform_driver_probe() as a concept that isn't relevant any more today. It comes with an added complexity that makes many users hold it wrong. (E.g. this driver should have better used __init instead of __init_or_module to mark functions only relevant to .probe() and mark the driver struct with __refdata.)
This fixes a W=1 build warning:

memory: emif: Simplify code handling CONFIG_OF
The first thing that of_get_memory_device_details() does is calling of_parse_phandle(). With CONFIG_OF=n this returns NULL in a static inline function. So the compiler can determine that of_get_memory_device_details() also returns NULL. bloat-o-meter confirms that this patch has no effects on the size of the generated code for CONFIG_OF=n builds.

memory: emif: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().
Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove callback to the void returning variant.

memory: emif: remove unused frequency and voltage notifiers
The driver defined several functions related to handling of frequency and voltage changes: - freq_post_notify_handling - freq_pre_notify_handling - volt_notify_handling
All these are static, not used inside or outside of driver, and marked as unused with comment: "TODO: voltage notify handling should be hooked up to regulator framework as soon as the necessary support is available in mainline kernel. This function is un-used right now.".
These have been added with commit a93de288aad3 ("memory: emif: handle frequency and voltage change events") in 2012 and are unused since then. Additionally mentioned regulator and clock hooking did not happen since then. If it did not happen for nine years, let's assume it will not happen suddenly now.
Remove all unused functions which also allows removal of "t_ck" static variable "t_ck" and "addressing" member of private structure.
No functionality is lost.

Use DEFINE_SHOW_ATTRIBUTE macro to simplify the code.
Along with this change, we get additionally: .owner = THIS_MODULE, .llseek = seq_lseek,
1. The llseek method is used to change the current read/write position in a file which can be ignored if you don't use it. 2. The owner is not even a method. Instead, it is a pointer to the module that “owns” this structure; it is used by the kernel to maintain the module's usage count which can be ignored.

memory: emif: Remove bogus debugfs error handling
Callers are generally not supposed to check the return values from debugfs functions. Debugfs functions never return NULL so this error handling will never trigger. (Historically debugfs functions used to return a mix of NULL and error pointers but it was eventually deemed too complicated for something which wasn't intended to be used in normal situations).
