The latest version of 68 the TIFF specification is available on-line 69 in several different formats. 70
71
72 Included in this software distribution is a library, libtiff, for reading 73 and writing TIFF, a small collection of tools for doing simple 74 manipulations of TIFF images, and documentation on the 75 library and tools. Libtiff is a portable software, it was built and 76 tested on various systems: UNIX flavors (Linux, BSD, Solaris, MacOS X), 77 Windows, OpenVMS. It should be possible to port libtiff and additional 78 tools on other OSes. 79
80
81 The library, along with associated tool programs, should handle most of 82 your needs for reading and writing TIFF images on 32- and 64-bit 83 machines. This software can also be used on older 16-bit systems 84 though it may require some effort and you may need to leave out some of 85 the compression support. 86
87
88 The software was originally authored and maintained by Sam Leffler. 89 While he keeps a fatherly eye on the mailing list, he is no longer 90 responsible for day to day maintenance. 91
92
93 Questions should be sent to the TIFF mailing list: 94 [email protected], with 95 a subscription interface at 96 http://lists.maptools.org/mailman/listinfo/tiff. 97
98
99 The persons responsible for putting up this site and putting together 100 versions >= 3.5.1 are 101 Frank Warmerdam, 102 Andrey Kiselev, 103 Bob Friesenhahn, 104 Joris Van Damme and Lee Howard. 105
106
107 The following sections are included in this documentation: 108
109
110
TIFF 6.0 specification coverage
111
Using the TIFF Library
112
Modifying the TIFF Library 113 and Adding New Tags
114
TIFF tools overview
115
Contributed software
116
TIFF documentation
117
Building the software distribution
118
Bugs, Bugzilla, and the TIFF mailing list
119
Test images
120
Acknowledgements and copyright issues
121
Man Pages
122
123
124 BigTIFF News 125
126
127
BigTIFF project proposal (work is completed!)
128
Press release: Currently extending LibTiff (work is completed!)
129
130
131
132 Last updated $Date: 2009-11-04 17:49:25 $. 133
134
135
136
