Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver structThe continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, andis really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' memberfunction, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had acomment to that effect: /* * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove(). * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped. */This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with'.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabsto make things line up.I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that usedspaces to line things up.Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and thisis the end result. No more unnecessary conversion noise.Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

rpmsg: qcom_smd: Use qcom_smem_is_available()Rather than looking up a dummy item from SMEM, use the newqcom_smem_is_available() function to make the code more clear(and reduce the overhead slightly).Add the same check to qcom_smd_register_edge() as well to ensure thatit only succeeds if SMEM is already available - if a driver calls thefunction and SMEM is not available yet then the initial state will beread incorrectly and the RPMSG devices might never become available.Reviewed-by: Konrad Dybcio <konrad.dybcio@linaro.org>Signed-off-by: Stephan Gerhold <stephan@gerhold.net>Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230531-rpm-rproc-v3-8-a07dcdefd918@gerhold.netSigned-off-by: Bjorn Andersson <andersson@kernel.org>

rpmsg: qcom_smd: Convert to platform remove callback returning voidThe .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makesmany driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling byreturning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignoredand this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is aquest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of thisquest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returnsvoid.qcom_smd_remove() always returned zero, though that isn't completelytrivial to see. So explain that in a comment and convert to.remove_new().Signed-off-by: Uwe Kleine-König <u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de>Signed-off-by: Bjorn Andersson <andersson@kernel.org>Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230321154039.355098-4-u.kleine-koenig@pengutronix.de

rpmsg: char: Use rpmsg_sendto to specify the message destination addressWhen the endpoint device is created by the application, a destinationaddress is specified in the rpmsg_channel_info structure. Since therpmsg_endpoint structure does not store the destination address, this destination address must be specified when sending a message.Replaces rpmsg_send with rpmsg_sendto to allow to specify thedestination address. This implementation is requested for compatibly withsome rpmsg backends like the virtio backend. For this, the GLINK an SMD drivers have been updated to support therpmsg_sendto, even if the destination address is ignored for thesebackends.
