ethtool: cosmetic: Use ethtool ethtool_cmd_speed APIThis updates the network drivers so that they don't access theethtool_cmd::speed field directly, but use ethtool_cmd_speed()instead.For most of the drivers, these changes are purely cosmetic and don'tfix any problem, such as for those 1GbE/10GbE drivers that indirectlycall their own ethtool get_settings()/mii_ethtool_gset(). The changesare meant to enforce code consistency and provide robustness withfuture larger throughputs, at the expense of a few CPU cycles for eachethtool operation. All drivers compiled with make allyesconfig ion x86_64 have beenupdated.Tested: make allyesconfig on x86_64 + e1000e/bnx2x workSigned-off-by: David Decotigny <decot@google.com>Signed-off-by: David S.

ethtool: Call ethtool's get/set_settings callbacks with cleaned dataThis makes sure that when a driver calls the ethtool'sget/set_settings() callback of another driver, the data passed to itis clean. This guarantees that speed_hi will be zeroed correctly ifthe called callback doesn't explicitely set it: we are sure we don'tget a corrupted speed from the underlying driver. We also take care ofsetting the cmd field appropriately (ETHTOOL_GSET/SSET).This applies to dev_ethtool_get_settings(), which now makes sure itsets up that ethtool command parameter correctly before passing it todrivers. This also means that whoever calls dev_ethtool_get_settings()does not have to clean the ethtool command parameter. This functionalso becomes an exported symbol instead of an inline. All drivers visible to make allyesconfig under x86_64 have beenupdated.Signed-off-by: David Decotigny <decot@google.com>Signed-off-by: David S.
mdio: Advertise pause (flow control) settings even if autoneg is offCurrently, if pause autoneg is off we do not set either pauseadvertising flag. If autonegotiation of speed and duplex settings isenabled, there is no way for the link partner to distinguish this fromour refusing to use pause frames. We should instead set the advertising flags according to the forcedmode so that the link partner can follow our lead. This is consistentwith the behaviour of other drivers.Signed-off-by: Ben Hutchings <bhutchings@solarflare.com>Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
