mips: defconfig: drop RT_GROUP_SCHED=y from generic/db1xxx/eyeq5For cgroup v1, if turned on, and there's any cgroup in the "cpu" hierarchy itneeds an RT budget assigned, otherwise the processes in it will not be able toget RT at all. The problem with RT group scheduling is that it requires thebudget assigned but there's no way we could assign a default budget, since thevalues to assign are both upper and lower time limits, are absolute, and need tobe sum up to < 1 for each individal cgroup. That means we cannot really come upwith values that would work by default in the general case.[1]For cgroup v2, it's almost unusable as well. If it turned on, the cpu controllercan only be enabled when all RT processes are in the root cgroup. But it willlose the benefits of cgroup v2 if all RT process were placed in the same cgroup.Red Hat, Gentoo, Arch Linux and Debian all disable it. systemd also doesn'tsupport it.[2][1]: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1229700[2]: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/13781#issuecomment-549164383Signed-off-by: Celeste Liu <CoelacanthusHex@gmail.com>Signed-off-by: Thomas Bogendoerfer <tsbogend@alpha.franken.de>

MIPS: generic: Enable Root FS on NFS in generic_defconfigThe generic_defconfig is used for platforms like SEAD3 which do notusually have fixed storage available, therefore NFS is the preferredlocation of the RFS.When the upstream kernel defconfig is built & tested on platforms suchas SEAD3 this leads to essentially false failures when the RFS fails tomount. There is little harm in having this feature enabled by default, soenable it in the defconfig. Kernel autoconfiguration & DHCP must also beselected to allow RFS on NFS.Signed-off-by: Matt Redfearn <matt.redfearn@imgtec.com>Cc: James Hogan <james.hogan@imgtec.com>Cc: Paul Burton <paul.burton@imgtec.com>Cc: linux-mips@linux-mips.orgCc: linux-kernel@vger.kernel.orgPatchwork: https://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/15853/Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>

MIPS: generic: Introduce generic DT-based board supportIntroduce a "generic" platform, which aims to be board-agnostic bymaking use of device trees passed by the boot protocol defined in theMIPS UHI (Universal Hosting Interface) specification. Provision is madefor supporting boards which use a legacy boot protocol that can't bechanged, but adding support for such boards or any others is left tofollowon patches.Right now the built kernels expect to be loaded to 0x80100000, ie. inkseg0. This is fine for the vast majority of MIPS platforms, butnevertheless it would be good to remove this limitation in the future bymapping the kernel via the TLB such that it can be loaded anywhere & mapitself appropriately.Configuration is handled by dynamically generating configs usingscripts/kconfig/merge_config.sh, somewhat similar to the way powerpcmakes use of it. This allows for variations upon the configuration, eg.differing architecture revisions or subsets of driver support fordiffering boards, to be handled without having a large number ofdefconfig files.Signed-off-by: Paul Burton <paul.burton@imgtec.com>Cc: linux-mips@linux-mips.orgPatchwork: https://patchwork.linux-mips.org/patch/14353/Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org>
