149b6fa2 - mm, slob: rename CONFIG_SLOB to CONFIG_SLOB_DEPRECATED

mm, slob: rename CONFIG_SLOB to CONFIG_SLOB_DEPRECATEDAs explained in [1], we would like to remove SLOB if possible.- There are no known users that need its somewhat lower memory footprint so much that they cannot handle SLUB (after some modifications by the previous patches) instead.- It is an extra maintenance burden, and a number of features are incompatible with it.- It blocks the API improvement of allowing kfree() on objects allocated via kmem_cache_alloc().As the first step, rename the CONFIG_SLOB option in the slab allocatorconfiguration choice to CONFIG_SLOB_DEPRECATED. Add CONFIG_SLOBdepending on CONFIG_SLOB_DEPRECATED as an internal option to avoid codechurn. This will cause existing .config files and defconfigs withCONFIG_SLOB=y to silently switch to the default (and recommendedreplacement) SLUB, while still allowing SLOB to be configured by anyonethat notices and needs it. But those should contact the slab maintainersand linux-mm@kvack.org as explained in the updated help. With no validobjections, the plan is to update the existing defconfigs to SLUB andremove SLOB in a few cycles. To make SLUB more suitable replacement for SLOB, a CONFIG_SLUB_TINYoption was introduced to limit SLUB's memory overhead. There is a number of defconfigs specifying CONFIG_SLOB=y. As part ofthis patch, update them to select CONFIG_SLUB and CONFIG_SLUB_TINY.[1] https://lore.kernel.org/all/b35c3f82-f67b-2103-7d82-7a7ba7521439@suse.cz/Cc: Russell King <linux@armlinux.org.uk>Cc: Aaro Koskinen <aaro.koskinen@iki.fi>Cc: Janusz Krzysztofik <jmkrzyszt@gmail.com>Cc: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com>Cc: Jonas Bonn <jonas@southpole.se>Cc: Stefan Kristiansson <stefan.kristiansson@saunalahti.fi>Cc: Stafford Horne <shorne@gmail.com>Cc: Yoshinori Sato <ysato@users.sourceforge.jp>Cc: Rich Felker <dalias@libc.org>Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>Cc: Josh Triplett <josh@joshtriplett.org>Cc: Conor Dooley <conor@kernel.org>Cc: Damien Le Moal <damien.lemoal@opensource.wdc.com>Cc: Christophe Leroy <christophe.leroy@csgroup.eu>Cc: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert@linux-m68k.org>Signed-off-by: Vlastimil Babka <vbabka@suse.cz>Acked-by: Aaro Koskinen <aaro.koskinen@iki.fi> # OMAP1Reviewed-by: Damien Le Moal <damien.lemoal@opensource.wdc.com> # riscv k210Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> # armAcked-by: Roman Gushchin <roman.gushchin@linux.dev>Acked-by: Mike Rapoport <rppt@linux.ibm.com>Reviewed-by: Christoph Lameter <cl@linux.com>

ARM: omap1: add Kconfig dependencies for unused boardsLegacy board files with no known users are planned to get removed inearly 2023, and this covers the majority of the omap1 boards as well.According to Tony, the actual users are all on OSK, Nokia770, andAMS-Delta. Additionally, the sx1 and palmte boards are supported by qemu, which is convenient for testing, so all five stay around past the initialboard removal. As omap1 is now part of the multiplatform build and uses the common-clkframework, it has become easier to convert these to use devicetreebased booting in the future.Cc: Janusz Krzysztofik <jmkrzyszt@gmail.com>Cc: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com>Cc: linux-omap@vger.kernel.orgAcked-by: Aaro Koskinen <aaro.koskinen@iki.fi>Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>

ARM: configs: Cleanup old Kconfig optionsCONFIG_MMC_BLOCK_BOUNCE is gone since commit c3dccb74be28 ("mmc: core:Delete bounce buffer Kconfig option").CONFIG_LBDAF is gone since commit 72deb455b5ec ("block: removeCONFIG_LBDAF").CONFIG_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and CONFIG_IOSCHED_CFQ are gone sincecommit f382fb0bcef4 ("block: remove legacy IO schedulers").The IOSCHED_DEADLINE was replaced by MQ_IOSCHED_DEADLINE and it will benow enabled by default (along with MQ_IOSCHED_KYBER).The IOSCHED_BFQ seems to replace IOSCHED_CFQ so select it in configspreviously choosing the latter.CONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE is gone since commit f1089c92da79 ("kbuild: removeCONFIG_CROSS_COMPILE support").Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20200130195525.4525-2-krzk@kernel.orgSigned-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzk@kernel.org>Acked-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de>Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>

6c48edcc - ARM: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATH

ARM: configs: Remove useless UEVENT_HELPER_PATHRemove the CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER_PATH because:1. It is disabled since commit 1be01d4a5714 ("driver: base: Disable CONFIG_UEVENT_HELPER by default") as its dependency (UEVENT_HELPER) was made default to 'n',2. It is not recommended (help message: "This should not be used today [...] creates a high system load") and was kept only for ancient userland,3. Certain userland specifically requests it to be disabled (systemd README: "Legacy hotplug slows down the system and confuses udev").Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzk@kernel.org>Acked-by: Geert Uytterhoeven <geert+renesas@glider.be>Acked-by: Sudeep Holla <sudeep.holla@arm.com>Acked-by: Andrew Jeffery <andrew@aj.id.au>Acked-by: Shawn Guo <shawnguo@kernel.org>Acked-by: Nicolas Ferre <nicolas.ferre@microchip.com>Acked-by: Dinh Nguyen <dinguyen@kernel.org>Signed-off-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>
