docs/mm: Physical Memory: remove useless markupJon says: > +See also :ref:`Page Reclaim <page_reclaim>`. Can also just be "See also Documentation/mm/page_reclaim.rst". The right things will happen in the HTML output, readers of the plain-text will know immediately where to go, and we don't have to add the label clutter.Remove reference markup and unnecessary labes and use plain file names.Fixes: 5d8c5e430a63 ("docs/mm: Physical Memory: add structure, introduction and nodes description")Suggested-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>Acked-by: Bagas Sanjaya <bagasdotme@gmail.com>Signed-off-by: Mike Rapoport (IBM) <rppt@kernel.org>Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20230201094156.991542-2-rppt@kernel.orgSigned-off-by: Jonathan Corbet <corbet@lwn.net>

dma-mapping: add dma_opt_mapping_size()Streaming DMA mapping involving an IOMMU may be much slower for largertotal mapping size. This is because every IOMMU DMA mapping requires anIOVA to be allocated and freed. IOVA sizes above a certain limit are notcached, which can have a big impact on DMA mapping performance.Provide an API for device drivers to know this "optimal" limit, such thatthey may try to produce mapping which don't exceed it.Signed-off-by: John Garry <john.garry@huawei.com>Reviewed-by: Damien Le Moal <damien.lemoal@opensource.wdc.com>Acked-by: Martin K.

dma-mapping: add a dma_alloc_noncontiguous APIAdd a new API that returns a potentiall virtually non-contigous sg_tableand a DMA address. This API is only properly implemented for dma-iommuand will simply return a contigious chunk as a fallback. The intent is that drivers can use this API if either: - no kernel mapping or only temporary kernel mappings are required. That is as a better replacement for DMA_ATTR_NO_KERNEL_MAPPING - a kernel mapping is required for cached and DMA mapped pages, but the driver also needs the pages to e.g. map them to userspace. In that sense it is a replacement for some aspects of the recently removed and never fully implemented DMA_ATTR_NON_CONSISTENTSigned-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de>Reviewed-by: Tomasz Figa <tfiga@chromium.org>Tested-by: Ricardo Ribalda <ribalda@chromium.org>

dma-mapping: remove the {alloc,free}_noncoherent methodsIt turns out allowing non-contigous allocations here was a rather badidea, as we'll now need to define ways to get the pages for mmapingor dma_buf sharing. Revert this change and stick to the originalconcept. A different API for the use case of non-contigous allocationswill be added back later.Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de>Reviewed-by: Tomasz Figa <tfiga@chromium.org>Tested-by: Ricardo Ribalda <ribalda@chromium.org>:wq

dma-mapping: add a new dma_alloc_noncoherent APIAdd a new API to allocate and free memory that is guaranteed to beaddressable by a device, but which potentially is not cache coherentfor DMA.To transfer ownership to and from the device, the existing streamingDMA API calls dma_sync_single_for_device and dma_sync_single_for_cpumust be used. For now the new calls are implemented on top of dma_alloc_attrs justlike the old-noncoherent API, but once all drivers are switched tothe new API it will be replaced with a better working implementationthat is available on all architectures.Signed-off-by: Christoph Hellwig <hch@lst.de>
