        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/usr.sbin/config/Makefile#83d7ed8a</link>
<description>config: drop dependency on libsbufUse an std::stringstream instead. get_word() and get_quoted_word() bothreturn a buffer that&apos;s presumed to not need release, so solve this byreturning a new special configword type that holds a string or eof/eolstate. This cleans up caller checking for EOF/EOL to make it moreexplicit what they&apos;re doing, at least in the EOL cases which previouslychecked for NULL.Sponsored by:	Klara, Inc.Sponsored by:	NetApp, Inc.Differential Revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D38276

        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/usr.sbin/config/Makefile#3cafc9a6</link>
<description>config(8): Fix broken ABIr336019 introduced ${SRCTOP}/sys to the include paths in order to pull in anew sys/{c,}nv.h. This is wrong, because the build tree&apos;s ABI isn&apos;tguaranteed to match what&apos;s running on the host system.Fix instead by removing -I${SRCTOP}/sys and installing the libnv headerswith `make -C lib/libnv includes`... this may or may not get re-worked inthe future so that a userland lib isn&apos;t installing includes from sys/.Reported by:	bdrewery

This leaves some duplicates if a variableis specified in multiple hint/env files or via `envvar` in a kernel config, but the reversed order of concatenation (from r335653) makes this anon-issue as the latest-specified version will be seen first. This change also silently rewrote hint bits to use the same sanitizationprocess that ian@ wrote for r335642. <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/usr.sbin/config/Makefile#744b947e</link>
<description>Improve INCLUDE_CONFIG_FILE support. This change will let us to have full configuration of a running kernelavailable in sysctl:	sysctl -b kern.conftxtThe same configuration is also contained within the kernel image. It can beobtained with:	config -x &lt;kernelfile&gt;Current functionality lets you to quickly recover kernel configuration, bysimply redirecting output from commands presented above and starting kernelbuild procedure. &quot;include&quot; statements are also honored, which means optionsand devices from included files are also included. Please note that comments from configuration files are not preserved bydefault. In order to preserve them, you can use -C flag for config(8). Thiswill bring configuration file and included files literally; however, redirection to a file no longer works directly. This commit was followed by discussion, that took place on freebsd-current@.For more details, look here:	http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2007-March/069994.html	http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2007-May/071844.htmlDevelopment of this patch took place in Perforce, hierarchy:	//depot/user/wkoszek/wkoszek_kconftxt/Support from:	freebsd-current@ (links above)Reviewed by:	imp@Approved by:	imp@
