        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/lib/libc/string/strchr.c#4025b5b5</link>
<description>libc: Purge unneeded cdefs.hThese sys/cdefs.h are not needed. Purge them. They are mostly left-overfrom the $FreeBSD$ removal. A few in libc are still required for macrosthat cdefs.h defines. Keep those.Sponsored by: NetflixDifferential Revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D42385(cherry picked from commit 559a218c9b257775fb249b67945fe4a05b7a6b9f)

<description>General further adoption of SPDX licensing ID tags.Mainly focus on files that use BSD 3-Clause license. The Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) group provides a specificationto make it easier for automated tools to detect and summarize well knownopensource licenses. We are gradually adopting the specification, notingthat the tags are considered only advisory and do not, in any way, superceed or replace the license texts.Special thanks to Wind River for providing access to &quot; The Duke ofHighlander&quot; tool: an older (2014) run over FreeBSD tree was useful as astarting point.

        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/lib/libc/string/strchr.c#46632c18</link>
<description>Merge index() and strchr() together. As I looked through the C library, I noticed the FreeBSD MIPS port has ahand-written version of index(). This is nice, if it weren&apos;t for thefact that most applications call strchr() instead. Also, on the other architectures index() and strchr() are identical, meaning we have two identical pieces of code in the C library andstatically linked applications.Solve this by naming the actual file strchr.[cS] and let it use__strong_reference()/STRONG_ALIAS() to provide the index() routine. Dothe same for rindex()/strrchr().This seems to make the C libraries and static binaries slightly smaller, but this reduction in size seems negligible.
