<description>Ensure that soft updates are not enabled by default when using mdmfs(8)When soft updates began being enabled by default that change carriedover to mdmfs(8) which does not want or need them. This fix ensuresthat they are only enabled in mdmfs(8) when requested with the -U flag.Reported by: Ivan RozhukTested by: Michael ProtoPR: 279308(cherry picked from commit 5b21d4ad060acb06c72e0458daebec9bcbf0cefd)

        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/include/paths.h#34b38e12</link>
<description>Add search of LOCALBASE/share/calendar for calendars supplied by a port.Calendar files in LOCALBASE override similarily named ones in the basesystem. This could easily be changed if the base system calendars shouldhave precedence, but it could lead to a violation of POLA since then theport&apos;s files were ignored unless those in base have been deleted. There was no definition of _PATH_LOCALBASE in paths.h, but verbatim usesof /usr/local existed for _PATH_DEFPATH. Use _PATH_LOCALBASE here to easea consistent modification of this prefix.Reviewed by:	imp, pfgDifferential Revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D26882

<description>include: further adoption of SPDX licensing ID tags.Mainly focus on files that use BSD 3-Clause license. The Software Package Data Exchange (SPDX) group provides a specificationto make it easier for automated tools to detect and summarize well knownopensource licenses. We are gradually adopting the specification, notingthat the tags are considered only advisory and do not, in any way, superceed or replace the license texts.Special thanks to Wind River for providing access to &quot; The Duke ofHighlander&quot; tool: an older (2014) run over FreeBSD tree was useful as astarting point.

<description>Add sbin and /usr/local directories to _PATH_DEFPATH.Set _PATH_DEFPATH to/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin. This is thepath in the default class in the default /etc/login.conf,excluding ~/bin which would not be expanded properly in a stringconstant. For normal logins, _PATH_DEFPATH is overridden by /etc/login.conf,~/.login_conf or shell startup files. _PATH_DEFPATH is still used as adefault by execlp(), execvp(), posix_spawnp() and sh if PATH is not set, andby cron. Especially the latter is a common trap (most recently in PR204813).PR: 204813Reviewed by:	secteam (delphij), alfred

<description>- Add vnode-backed swap space specification support. This is enabled when device names &quot;md&quot; or &quot;md[0-9]*&quot; and a &quot;file&quot; option are specified in /etc/fstab like this: md none swap sw,file=/swap.bin 0 0- Add GBDE/GELI encrypted swap space specification support, which rc.d/encswap supported. The /etc/fstab lines are like the following: /dev/ada1p1.bde none swap sw 0 0 /dev/ada1p2.eli none swap sw 0 0 .eli devices accepts aalgo, ealgo, keylen, and sectorsize as options. swapctl(8) can understand an encrypted device in the command line like this: # swapctl -a /dev/ada2p1.bde- &quot;-L&quot; flag is added to support &quot;late&quot; option to defer swapon until rc.d/mountlate runs.- rc.d script change: rc.d/encswap -&gt; removed rc.d/addswap -&gt; just display a warning message if $swapfile is defined rc.d/swap1 -&gt; renamed to rc.d/swap rc.d/swaplate -&gt; newly added to support &quot;late&quot; optionThese changes alleviate a race condition between device creation/removaland swapon/swapoff.MFC after:	1 weekReviewed by:	wblock (manual page)

<description>Finally nuke auth.conf, nine years after it was deprecated. The onlything it was still used for was to set the &quot;global default&quot; passwordhash. Since the stock auth.conf contained nothing but comments, theglobal default was actually the first algorithm in crypt(3)&apos;s list, which happens to be DES; I take the fact that nobody noticed as proofthat it was not used outside of crypt(3).The only other use in our tree was in the Kerberos support code inin tinyware&apos;s passwd(1). I removed that code in an earlier commit;it would not have compiled anyway, as it only supported Kerberos IV.The auth_getval() function is now a stub that always returns NULL,which has the same effect as a functional auth_getval() with anempty auth.conf.MFC after:	3 weeks

<title>ad30f8e7 - Add the BSD-licensed Citrus iconv to the base system with default off</title>
        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-14.2/include/paths.h#ad30f8e7</link>
<description>Add the BSD-licensed Citrus iconv to the base system with default offsetting. It can be built by setting the WITH_ICONV knob. While thisknob is unset, the library part, the binaries, the header file andthe metadata files will not be built or installed so it makes no impacton the system if left turned off. This work is based on the iconv implementation in NetBSD but a greatnumber of improvements and feature additions have been included:- Some utilities have been added. There is a conversion table generator, which can compare conversion tables to reference data generated by GNU libiconv. This helps ensuring conversion compatibility.- UTF-16 surrogate support and some endianness issues have been fixed.- The rather chaotic Makefiles to build metadata have been refactored and cleaned up, now it is easy to read and it is also easier to add support for new encodings.- A bunch of new encodings and encoding aliases have been added.- Support for 1-&gt;2, 1-&gt;3 and 1-&gt;4 mappings, which is needed for transliterating with flying accents as GNU does, like &quot;u.- Lots of warnings have been fixed, the major part of the code is now WARNS=6 clean.- New section 1 and section 5 manual pages have been added.- Some GNU-specific calls have been implemented: iconvlist(), iconvctl(), iconv_canonicalize(), iconv_open_into()- Support for GNU&apos;s //IGNORE suffix has been added.- The &quot;-&quot; argument for stdin is now recognized in iconv(1) as per POSIX.- The Big5 conversion module has been fixed.- The iconv.h header files is supposed to be compatible with the GNU version, i.e. sources should build with base iconv.h and GNU libiconv. It also includes a macro magic to deal with the char ** and const char ** incompatibility.- GNU compatibility: &quot;&quot; or &quot;char&quot; means the current local encoding in use- Various cleanups and style(9) fixes.Approved by:	delphij (mentor)Obtained from:	The NetBSD ProjectSponsored by:	Google Summer of Code 2009
