        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-13.1/sys/mips/conf/std.XLP#e8643b01</link>
<description>Modularize xz.Embedded lzma decompression library becomes a module usable by otherconsumers, in addition to geom_uzip.Most important code changes are- removal of XZ_DEC_SINGLE define, we need the code to work with XZ_DEC_DYNALLOC;- xz_crc32_init() call is removed from geom_uzip, xz module handles initialization on its own.xz is no longer embedded into geom_uzip, instead the depend line forthe module is provided, and corresponding kernel option is added toeach MIPS kernel config file using geom_uzip.The commit also carries unrelated cleanup by removing excess &quot;device geom_uzip&quot;in places which were missed in r344479.Reviewed by:	cem, hselasky, ray, slavash (previous versions)Sponsored by:	Mellanox TechnologiesDifferential revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D19266MFC after:	3 weeks

<title>bd79708d - In the TCP stack, the hhook(9) framework provides hooks for kernel modules</title>
        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-13.1/sys/mips/conf/std.XLP#bd79708d</link>
<description>In the TCP stack, the hhook(9) framework provides hooks for kernel modulesto add actions that run when a TCP frame is sent or received on a TCPsession in the ESTABLISHED state. In the base tree, this functionality isonly used for the h_ertt module, which is used by the cc_cdg, cc_chd, cc_hd,and cc_vegas congestion control modules.Presently, we incur overhead to check for hooks each time a TCP frame issent or received on an ESTABLISHED TCP session. This change adds a new compile-time option (TCP_HHOOK) to determine whetherto include the hhook(9) framework for TCP. To retain backwardscompatibility, I added the TCP_HHOOK option to every configuration file thatalready defined &quot;options INET&quot;. (Therefore, this patch introduces nofunctional change. In order to see a functional difference, you need tocompile a custom kernel without the TCP_HHOOK option.) This change willallow users to easily exclude this functionality from their kernel, shouldthey wish to do so.Note that any users who use a custom kernel configuration and use one of thecongestion control modules listed above will need to add the TCP_HHOOKoption to their kernel configuration.Reviewed by:	rrs, lstewart, hiren (previous version), sjg (makefiles only)Sponsored by:	NetflixDifferential Revision:	https://reviews.freebsd.org/D8185

        <link>http://172.16.0.5:8080/history/freebsd-13.1/sys/mips/conf/std.XLP#99ff83da</link>
<description>Decouple yarrow from random(4) device.* Make Yarrow an optional kernel component -- enabled by &quot;YARROW_RNG&quot; option. The files sha2.c, hash.c, randomdev_soft.c and yarrow.c comprise yarrow.* random(4) device doesn&apos;t really depend on rijndael-*. Yarrow, however, does.* Add random_adaptors.[ch] which is basically a store of random_adaptor&apos;s. random_adaptor is basically an adapter that plugs in to random(4). random_adaptor can only be plugged in to random(4) very early in bootup. Unplugging random_adaptor from random(4) is not supported, and is probably a bad idea anyway, due to potential loss of entropy pools. We currently have 3 random_adaptors: + yarrow + rdrand (ivy.c) + nehemeiah* Remove platform dependent logic from probe.c, and move it into corresponding registration routines of each random_adaptor provider. probe.c doesn&apos;t do anything other than picking a specific random_adaptor from a list of registered ones.* If the kernel doesn&apos;t have any random_adaptor adapters present then the creation of /dev/random is postponed until next random_adaptor is kldload&apos;ed.* Fix randomdev_soft.c to refer to its own random_adaptor, instead of a system wide one.Submitted by: arthurmesh@gmail.com, obrienObtained from: Juniper NetworksReviewed by: obrien

<description>Remove pty(4) from our kernel configurations. As of FreeBSD 8, this driver should not be used. Applications that useposix_openpt(2) and openpty(3) use the pts(4) that is built into thekernel unconditionally. If it turns out high profile depend on thepty(4) module anyway, I&apos;d rather get those fixed. So please report anyissues to me.The pty(4) module is still available as a kernel module of course, so asimple `kldload pty&apos; can be used to run old-style pseudo-terminals.
